The first class (5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.) will focus on the basic techniques and kata of the Art. Students are required to wear traditional Karate uniforms to attend these classes.
The second class (7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.) will focus on the integration traditional weapons, or Kobudo, (i.e. bo staff) into the training. This is an advanced class - for which permission must be granted by the instructor.
Students are responsible for purchasing and maintaining their own equipment.
Shuri-ryu Karate is an eclectic martial arts system developed by Robert Trias. In addition to the punches, blocks, and kicks of Karate, it also incorporates joint locks, take downs, throws, and traditional weapons (Kobudo) into the training.
